Jula wants to see beyond the CV – video interviews highlight candidates’ personalities and values
The Jula Group’s recruitment process has long been based on reviewing applications and CVs. However, they received an enormous number of applications: up to 300–400 for a single recruitment and nearly a thousand for summer jobs. Based solely on applications, it was difficult to see what kind of person was behind them and who should really be invited for an interview.

Jula introduced video interviews to get a better picture of candidates’ personalities, values, and the “Jula type” at an early stage of the process. The implementation of the Recright tool went smoothly: first, video interviews were tested in a recruitment for an office position, and they were soon used extensively for new store openings and summer recruitments.
“For the summer recruitments, we sent out hundreds of video interview invitations and received very good feedback from the managers. Many noticed that a candidate who seemed promising based on their CV wasn’t the right fit for the role, while someone who had been a bit in the shadow on paper stood out positively on video.”
Recruiters and managers are very positive about Recright. “Whenever I ask if they want to use video, the answer is an absolute yes. The benefits of video are clear, and it has become a part of most of Jula’s recruitments,” says Sini.
In six months, Jula has interviewed over 1,300 candidates and 91% of them experienced the process as very positive.
